📖 Lore: Abyssgnaw – Echoes from the Depths
Millions of years ago, the deepest part of the ocean was not silent.
It was a forgotten realm known as The Luminous Void — a place where light could never reach, and the weight of the water could crush even the strongest metal.
Yet, life still formed there.
And from the cold, crushing dark came a creature born from the ocean’s own will — Abyssgnaw, the guardian of the deep.
At first, it was created to protect the balance of the sea, devouring toxic entities that threatened the ocean’s core.
But after a meteor struck the Earth, a strange element seeped into the depths, corrupting its mind.
Twisted by this alien energy, Abyssgnaw began to hunt anything that made a sound.
Its hearing organs decayed, replaced by skin that could feel vibrations.
Now, even the faintest echo — a whisper, a ripple, a heartbeat — could draw it from the abyss.
And once it sensed a sound, it never stopped until it found its source.
Fishermen who sail too far at night sometimes hear a deep, rumbling breath beneath their boats.
When the sea grows restless without wind, they whisper a single prayer:
“Don’t let it hear us.”
